PhD or MSc to develop artificial intelligence projects in animal health and production.

Director: Pablo Valdes Donoso DVM, MPVM, MSc, PhD

Description

We have an opening for a position at the PhD or MSc level in data analytics in animal health and production. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Plateforme AI-Agrosanté (PIAAS), a vibrant multidisciplinary group of professionals focusing on AI techniques and data management applied to agri-food and animal health. The candidate will also benefit from the University of Montreal's AI network, such as IVADO (the Center for data valorization), the Consortium Santé Numerique, and MILA, among others.

Project:

Our group is developing several projects using highly intense data analytics over the Quebec dairy and poultry industries, antimicrobial usage in veterinary medicine, small animal veterinary medicine, and, we hope soon, the interface of wildlife and food production. The candidate will actively participate in one of these projects.

Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of statistics and programming and good writing skills (in English and/or French) are required, but more importantly, a willingness to keep learning!

Engineering, computer sciences, agriculture, epidemiology, economics, animal health, or biology knowledge are a plus.

Compensation:

The position will be funded by a research grant, but the student will write applications for internal or external funds to gain skills in writing grants and supplement her/his program.
